Need help finding out what 3x=y and x-2y = 10

Answer:

x=-2, y=-6

Explanation:

Simple substitution.

Since y is isolated in one of the equations already, you can plug it into the second equation.

x - 2(3x) = 10

x - 6x = 10

-5x = 10

x = -2

Sub. x = -2 into 3x = y:

3(-2) = y

y = -6
