I can give you a few points as to why he is unreliable.

Unreliable:

-there are some parts of the story where nick

is drunk

-nick is easily swayed by beauty or alcohol. Like when he finds himself falling for Jordan even though he describes her as “incurably dishonest” (Fitzgerald 58). His opinion of people is easily tainted.

-there are certain times where the reader may be suspicious of nick, like when he said he rarely gets drunk but gets drunk numerous times in the story. He contradicts himself a lot

-from what I remember nick may be mentally unstable. There are parts of the story that are clearly left out.

-while nick does describe the other characters in detail, he seems to have some sort of prejudice or judgement towards them.

-the story is told in first person so there narrator has to be unreliable at some point.
