I NEED HELP!

What is the function of primaries and caucuses?

1) to get out in the field and discuss the issues of the day with the voting public
2) to choose the running mate of the front runner, or the person who will run for president
3)to introduce to the voters the front runners whom the party will choose during the convention
4) to give voters a chance to vote on the candidate they would like to represent the party

In caucuses, party members meet, discuss, and vote for who they think would be the best party candidate. In primaries, party members vote in a state election for the candidate they want to represent them in the general election.

I believe the correct answer is 3; to introduce to the voters the front runners whom the party will choose during the convention
