There are two approaches to solving the equation -3x + 10 = 4x - 20

Subtract 4x from both sides. OR Add 3x to both sides.

–7x + 10 = –20 OR 10 = 7x – 20

Solve the equation using both approaches.

What is the solution?

a. x = -30/7
b. x = -7/30
c. x = 30/7
d. x = 7/30

Answer:

c

Explanation:

using the 10 = 7x - 20 for simplicity.

10 = 7x - 20 add 20 to both sides

30 = 7x divide both sides by 7

30/7 = x
