How did julius cesar help turn the roman republic into the romen empire

Julius Caesar was proclaimed a dictator after he defeated his political opponents, most notably Pompey. Although he was killed because he was proclaimed Emperor he showed that the strict and strong of the ruler will lead to the creation of Empire. System of Republic was not functional anymore.

Although after Caesar died Second Triumvirate was established it was obvious that this system is not functional. After Octavian defeated Mark Antony he was proclaimed Emperor. Of course, this would never happen if Caesar didn't create a strong authority of the individual in the country.
