Explanation:

You basically want to first distribute then combine like terms

3 ( y - 6 + 4 )

Do PEMDAS

3*y + 3 * -6 + 3* 4

( This is the distributed part)

3y - 18 + 12

3y - 6

( This is the combing like terms)
