Answer: 640 students.

Explanation:

given data:

number of student chosen to attend by the mayor = 160

amount this student represents of the total population =
(1)/(4)

solution:

since
(1)/(4) was chosen which is 160 this means that
(1)/(4) is \geq 160

therefore;

(1)/(4) = 160\\

multiply both sides by 4

(1)/(4) . 4 = 160 .4\\= 640

the least number of students that attend melvins school is 640.
