Why did Marxist ideology emerged during the industrial revolution?

This was when workers were starting to be mistreated; therefore people wanted new ways to have an equal say to their overseers. Marxism states that there are opprsssors and the oppressed. Many workers liked the idea of the workers having more power since now more people worked in factories than ever. Working in factories meant having a boss, instead of working for yourself like a farmer or a small shop owner would. This all led to Karl Marx making Marxism; and a lot liked the idea of it; but the implications would prove to be disastorous.

I believe that if it weren't for unions and unionizing in the United States that Marxism would have been more popular here.
