How can transposing a piece help the woodwinds?
-Transposing makes the melody line sound better when played by the woodwinds.
-Transposing makes the harmonies easier for the woodwinds.
-Transposing will change the tone of the instruments somewhat, and it can also help if you are having issues with a part falling outside of the usable range of an instrument.
-Transposing makes the melody line lower so that the bass woodwinds can reach the notes.

Transposition, in the simplest sense, is the writing of music at a different pitch than sounding pitch. It is used in certain instruments to simplify notation making it easier to read by players
