Now, before the cognitive perspective began to emerge again, behaviorism was the prevailing perspective being taught in most colleges/universities. Personal ideology can also affect the type of perspective a psychologist will either support, the course of research a he will undertake, and also his perception and interpretation of the research results. For example, during the prevalence of behaviorism, psychologists were discouraged from studying any cognitive process and this resulted in the fact that a lot of the research that were conducted to have a behaviorist inclination to it.
