Brian’s kite is flying above a field at the end of 65 m of string. If the angle of elevation to the kite

measures 70°, how high is the kite above Brian’s head?

The kite makes an angle of 70° with the ground, so that it forms a triangle with

sin(70°) = h / (65 m)

where h is the height of the kite in the air. Solve for h :

h = (65 m) sin(70°)

h ≈ 61.08 m
