here's a few rules:
numbers
(you always begin the chemical name with one of these numbers, it indicates how many atoms of C there are)
- meth-
- et-
- prop-
- but-
- pent-
- hex-
- hept-
- oct-
- non-
- dec-
- undec-
- dodec-
- tridec
- tetradec
- pentadec
- hexadec
- heptadec
- octadec
- nonadec
- idos
alkanes
end with -ane
alcohols
end with -ol
knowing those rules, it's quite simple to name them
(all of those exercises are alcohols)
- 10 C and alcohol -> Decanol
- 7 C-> heptanol
- 8 C-> octanol
- 13C->tridectanol
- 8C-> octanol
- 11C-> Undecanol
- 6C-> hexanolbromide
