HELPPP. A ball of mass 0.35kg rolls on a smooth surface and hits another object at rest and of mass 7kg. The second object gets an acceleration of 1.5m/s2. What acceleration does the ball get? Use newtons third law.

Answer:

-30 m/s²

Step-by-step explanation:

Newton's third law states that: for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Now, we are given;

Mass of ball: m_b = 0.35kg

Mass of second object: m_s = 7 kg

Acceleration of second object: a_s = 1.5 m/s²

From Newton's third law, we can say that:

-F_b = F_s

Thus:

-(0.35 × a_b) = 7 × 1.5

a_b = -(7 × 1.5)/0.35

a_b = -30 m/s²
