Silk was used as money during some Ancient Chinese dynasties. Silk became a prized export for the Chinese. Nobles and kings of foreign lands desired silk and would pay high prices for the cloth. It’s important because it brought wealth and is apparently known as a sign of wealth.
Hope this helps :)

Answer:

Silk was important to China because it started trade between China and the Old World

Step-by-step explanation:

Silk was important to China because it started trade between China and the Old World. In general, silk was a main staple of pre-industrial trade. Silk Road stretched from China to India, Persia and Europe. Silk Road linked together many civilizations and this trade fostered economic development.
