Because the fraction 1/12 is the simplest it can go, adding fractions together NEED to have the SAME denominator. 12 is a multiply of 6 so all we had to do was multiply 2 by 6 to make 12 and doing the same with the numerator, since 5/6 was ALREADY turned to an equivalent fraction you do NOT need to turn 1/12 to another one.
