Think about the modern texts you read for this unit. In your opinion, what makes literature "good" or "bad"? How comfortable are you in determining the quality of literature? Do you find it easy to critique a text? If not, what do find difficult? How does your comfort level change depending on the genre and the era in which the text was written?

Good literature is unpredictable and surprises you. I am comfortable determining the quality of literature. find it somewhat easy to critique texts in literature. My reaction to a well written piece of literature is all I need to make a determination. I am comfortable with critiquing text in all genres but probably would be hesitant to critique literature written before the 18th century just because of a language difference. People speak more casually and in slang in these times versus then.
