In the excerpt buck learned that he is more than he thinks he is. He learns that he has the power to kill a man. He also learns that he is intimidated of weapons. In the excerpt it says, "They were no match at all, were it not for their arrows and spears and clubs. Thenceforward he would be unafraid of them except when they bore in their hands their arrows, spears, and clubs." This shows that buck dosent like weapons and he thinks that he is no match for them.
