In the book, "The Outsiders" Did Dallas want to die and why? Explain whether Dallas wanted to die and 1 reason as to why. I believe Dallas did want to die. Dally felt like it was his duty to save Johnny’s innocence from the cruel things he has to face. When he saw that he failed, his guilt took over and he let himself get shot by the police. Dallas gun was unloaded at the time but the police did not know this and shot him to his death.
