The 3rd amendment gives people the right to not have their houses invaded by soldiers without the home owner's consent, even during peacetime or war.
Without this amendment, soldiers would be housing citizen's homes like the british soldiers did, and the neighborhoods might even be filled with troops.

The 3 amendment gives citizens a right to not have their homes invaded by soldiers. If this was not to happen, imagine having to give up your room to a troop. Not to mention having to feed them.
