Let the number be x

  • 3 times the original number is equal to the original number x + 52.

Then , above statement becomes

x + 52 = 3x

Solving for x , we have the following

\large\green\implies \tt \large \: \: x \: + \: 52 \: = \: 3x

\large\green\implies \tt \large \: \: 52 \: = \: 3x \: - x

\large\green\implies \tt \large \: \: 52 \: = \: 2x

\large\green\implies \tt \large \: \: \cancel(52)/(2) \: = \: x \\

\large\green\implies \tt \large \: \: 26 \: = \: x

Hence , the number is 26.
