Assume that y varies inversely with x. If y=1/3 when x=1/2, find y when x=1/4. Enter in any fractions using a / (e.g. "1/2" is the same as 1/2 and 1 1/2 is the same as 1^1/2). Make sure all fractions are simplified.

Answer: 2/3

That x and y vary inversely means the product xy is a constant. The second sentence tells us that this constant product is (1/3)(1/2) = 1/6. So when x = 1/4, x* y = 1/4 * y = 1/6 as well. Dividing both sides by 1/4, we have y = 1/6 * 4 = 2/3.
