Ellema knows that 1/5 written as a decimal is 0.2. How can Ellema use this information to find the decimal equivalent for 9/5 without doing 9 divided by 5?

9 - 5 = 4. This means that there is a whole number because 5 can go into 9 one time. Since you have taken 5 away from 9 it would be 1 and 4/5. 4 parts out of 5 is 0.80 so the decimal answer to this would be 1.80 or 1.8
