In the novel The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton and in the article “How neighborhoods affect poor teen boys,” by the Marshall Project, both authors discuss the idea that a person’s environment can have a heavy impact on their character and actions. In the novel, Hinton describes the greasers who live in a poor kind of environment next to a wealthy environment which causes the Greasers to get in more trouble and more fights and battles. The author of the article describes a similar type of environment which causes the boys who live there to cause and get into more trouble and the girls get in less trouble.
