Answer:

x = 14

y = 11

Explanation:

x - y = 3

2x + 2y = 50

multiplty x - y = 3 by two so we can get an equal value

2x - 2y = 6

2x + 2y = 50

-2y and 2y can be cancled out. That means we don't need to change any signs and we can add everything exept 2y and -2y becuase they will be cancled out.

4x = 56

Divide each side by 4 to leave x alone.

x = 14

Now that we know the x value, take one of the equations in the question and plug it in. I am going to use the equation x - y = 3 to make it easier.

14 - y = 3

-y = 3 - 14

-y = -11

y = 11

Now we know that y = 11.

I hope this helps!
