Cherries cost $2/b. Grapes cost $0.50/lb. You can

spend no more than $3 on fruit, and you need at least
3 lb in all. Create a graph showing the amount of each
fruit you can buy.

Let x = the number of pounds of cherries purchased and y = the number of pounds of grapes purchased.

The first two sentences yield the inequalities:

2x + .5y ≤ 3 and
x + y ≥ 2.

You also must have x ≥ 0 and y ≥ 0, in order for this to make sense.

When you graph these four inequalities, you will obtain a region in the first quadrant. I will let you try to find it by graphing the first two inequalities and determining the shaded region.

If you need more help after this, please post a reply and I may offer more assistance.
