Ode to Baseball

In the glow of summer’s embrace, on fields of emerald grace,

Lies a game, so simple and true, binding generations, old and new.

Baseball, America’s cherished delight, under the sun and stadium light.

From the crack of the bat to the catcher’s mitt snap,

The rhythmic applause, the cap's solemn tip,

Every stolen base, every strategic slip,

You are poetry in motion, with each inning's wrap.

Nine on the field, each position a dance,

Shortstop leaps and outfielder’s glance.

Pitcher's fierce focus, batter's chance,

In this ballet of wills, of circumstance.

The bases, like checkpoints in a life's grand tour,

From the eager first to the third's allure.

But oh, the home plate, beckoning pure,

Promising victory, making heroes du jour.

Grandstands echo with dreams of the past,

Of legends and heroes, shadows they cast.

Ruth, Robinson, Gehrig, and more,

You gave them to us, folklore to adore.

From little leagues to the major's grand stage,

You teach us of teamwork, of turning the page.

For in failures and strikeouts, in every lost game,

Lie lessons of resilience, of igniting the flame.

Oh, Baseball, in you, we find more than a game,

A mirror to life, with fortune and fame.

Through summers and falls, you remain ever the same,

A testament to passion, in joy and in pain.

So here's to you, Baseball, in all your grand lore,

For the heartbeats you've quickened, the spirits you soar.

May you forever be played, may your legacy never fade,

Baseball, beloved, America's cherished score.
