Answer:

Perimeter of the new rug = 4x+2 feet

Explanation:

Let the length be x feet and the width of the first rug will be x- 3 feet

Area = length * breadth = x * (x-3) = x²- 3x

Length of the new rug = x+2 feet

Width of the rug = x+2-3= x-1 feet

Perimeter of the recatngle = 2( length + breadth)

= 2( x+2 + x-1)

= 2 (2x+1)

= 4x+2 feet
