Answer: 1. The size of the Atlantic slave trade dramatically transformed African societies. The slave trade brought about a negative impact on African societies and led to the long-term impoverishment of West Africa. This intensified effects that were already present amongst its rulers, kinships, kingdoms and in society. 2. For you I would say something I did not know before this week is that In the early days, enslaved Africans were brought to Portugal or to Atlantic islands like Madeira to work in agriculture.

3. Studying history enables us to develop better understanding of the world in which we live. Building knowledge and understanding of historical events and trends, especially over the past century, enables us to develop a much greater appreciation for current events today.
