A farmer is mapping out one of his fields and is placing markers to section off areas to use for different crops. He has placed marker 1 at the point (2, 1), marker 2 at the point (-3, 1), and marker 3 at the point (2, 5). If each unit on the grid is one kilometer, what's the distance between marker's 1 and 2?

Answer:

5km

Explanation:

The distance between two coordinates is expressed as;

D = √(x2-x1)²+(y2-y1)²

Marker 1 is at coordinate (2,1) and marker 2 at (-3,1)

Substitute into the formula

D = √(-3-2)²+(1-1)²

D = √(-5)²

D = √25

D = 5

Hence the distance between marker one and two is 5km
