A biotechnologist studies the cells, tissues and other parts of living organisms (similar to a biologist) but their purpose is to develop new processes, procedures or technologies that can be used by humans to make a profit. Biotechnologists develop products like herbicides for agriculture, or new drugs for pharmaceutical companies, etc.

A biologist would probably side with Rochelle and the rest of the fishermen, but a biotechnologist would probably side with Lionel and the oil company. Biotechnologists' work is based on developing new technologies from living organisms that can be used by companies to make a profit
