Gibbons v Ogden: This case expanded the powers of congress. The commerce clause which ended up deciding the outcome of the case as been used as a basis for sweeping congressional power over several issues since. It gave Congress authority over commerce crossing state lines.

Fletcher v Peck: this ruling served as a barrier to state regulation of business corporations.
