1. to heat buildings and water, to operate refrigeration and cooling equipment, to cook, to dry clothes, and to provide outdoor lighting. Some consumers in the commercial sector also use natural gas as a fuel in combined heat and power systems.
2. transportation fuels, fuel oils for heating and electricity generation, asphalt and road oil, and feedstocks for making the chemicals, plastics, and synthetic materials that are in nearly everything we use.

Answer:

Uses of Natural Gas

Natural Gas was used mainly for street and household lighting in the 19th and 20th century.

Now, it has a lot more uses in the homes and industrial applications.

It is used to turn turbines for wind and solar energy generation.

This fossil fuel is used for the production of ammonia which itself is used for making fertilizers.

It is a domestic fuel as well. It fires stoves in our houses and also runs heaters, ovens, boilers, etc.

Compressed Natural Gas or CNG, that is gas stored at high pressure, is also used in some households for heating and cooking purposes.

Uses of Petroleum

1. Agriculture:

Petroleum is useful in the manufacture of ammonia, which is in use in agricultural fertilizers as a nitrogen source.

2.Chemical Industry:

Petroleum by-products are in use as raw materials by many chemical firms. They are useful in the processing of chemical fertilizers, synthetic fibre, synthetic rubber, plastics, pesticides, insecticides, perfumes, dyes, paints. The refining of crude oil results in the production of many by-products that are useful for household and industrial purposes. Plastic, detergents, oil, Vaseline, wax, and butane, among others, are significant by-products of petroleum. Paraffin wax is useful in the production of candles, ink, crayons, etc.

3.Lubricants:

In almost all industries, lubricants (one of the derivatives of petroleum) are useful in several types of machines. To minimize friction, lubricants are in use in all kinds of automobiles and industrial equipment.
