Let's start with two random mixed numbers.


4(3)/(5) ÷
5(1)/(4)

The first step is starting with
4(3)/(5). Think about going from the denominator to the number on the left. After you remember that rule multiply 4 by 5. You should get 20. After that, you add by the numerator. 20 + 3=23

This is how it would be written.


(23)/(5)

Do the same for the next mixed number. 5 x 4 = 20 and add by the numerator 21.


(21)/(4)

After this is done. You will multiply by those fractions.
(23)/(5) x
(21)/(4) =
(483)/(20) we would write it as
24(3)/(20) as a mixed fraction.
