Answer:

Explanation:

this is a linear equation ( y = mx + b)

m = the rate at which it increases

b = the amount they start with

x = the number of correct answers

so the equation is y = 3x + 2

to find y, you just plug in x

ex:

when x = 3

y = 3(3) + 2

y = 9 + 2

y = 11

to find the x value when you have a y value you plug in the y to solve for x

ex:

when y = 29

29 = 3x + 2

27 = 3x

x = 27/3

x = 9

Answer:

Ok so you start off right off the bat with 2 points that is why starting at 0 you have 2 points. Then after you get a question correct it goes up 3 points. So the 1 is explaining that after they got one question right they then have 5 points. So for when they get two questions right it will be 8 points because you are adding 5 and 3. Then for when they get 3 questions correct it will be 11. This is because they had 8 points and just got another correct so you add 8 and 3. Then you have to go in order so instead of the 5.8 change it to 4 because that is another question. Then say they get it correct you add 11 and 3 which would be 14. Hope this helps. Sorry if unclear
