Some recent studies have indicated that a high self-opinion, one that is not contingent upon success, does not correlate with increased academic performance. These studies show that teenagers feel better about themselves than they did in the past, even though academic performance in middle schools and high schools has fallen. What do you think this says about the role of self-esteem?

The fact that teenagers have high self esteem shows that they don’t value themselves with academic success and or feel less confident because of it. Hope this helps a bit :)
