What were some positive contributions of Christopher Columbus and/or the Columbian

The Colombian Exchange allowed for trade with the Western Hemisphere instead of just Afro-Eurasia.

1. The Europeans brought horses to the Americas which helped Indians hunt buffalos on horseback

2. Despite the mass transports of enslaved of enslaved West Africans to the Americas, Africa maintained a stable population because the Europeans brought healthy vegetables such as potatoes, beans, and peppers from the Americas to Africa. Thus, the Africans lived longer because of the nutritious food.

3. The Europeans’ main form of currency was gold and silver because they were special metals that had gray value and wealth. The Americas had tons of gold and silver which gained wealth for the Europeans. Also, the Portuguese started focusing its endeavors on agriculture because Brazil, the land that they conquered, had perfect land for sugarcane cultivation. Eventually, the Portuguese’s main form of currency was sugar which became widespread and used by the French and Spanish.
