y = {x}^(2) - x - 20

y = (x - 5)(x + 4)

To find the zeroes , Just need to put 0 instead of y .

0 = (x - 5)(x + 4)

(x - 5)(x + 4) = 0

Hint :

a * b = 0

a = 0 \: \: \: or \: \: \: b = 0

x - 5 = 0

Add sides 5

x - 5 + 5 = 0 + 5

x = 5

Or

x + 4 = 0

Subtract sides 4

x + 4 - 4 = 0 - 4

x = - 4

Thus the zeroes are :

( - 4 , 0 ) and ( 5 , 0 ) .
