In an isosceles triangle, two of the sides are equal. Given the lengths of sides of triangle JMN as JM, MN, and JN where JM ≅ MN

Given

JM = 2x - 5

MN = 3x -9, and

JN = x - 2.

Since JM≅ MN then;

2x - 5 = 3x-9

Collect like terms;

2x-3x = -9+5

-x = -4

multiply both sides ny -1;

-(-x) = -(-4)

x = 4

For side JM;

JM = 2x-5

JM = 2(4)-5

JM = 8-5

JM = 3

Since JM ≅ side MN, hence;

MN = 3

For side JN;

JN = x-2

JN = 4-2

JN = 2
