The nodes are the specific areas on the stem where the lateral bud is present from which the leaves, branches or flower buds grow out. In comparison, an internode is the distance between two consecutive nodes. The xylem and the phloem run through the internodes.

Answer:

Nodes are the regions on the stem from which leaves develop, while internodes are the regions between two nodes.
