The Civil War, Civil War Battles, and Reconstruction

After the Civil War, the South did not easily return to the ideals held by
the North. Why was it such a big issue for the South to ratify (agree to)
the 13th Amendment as part of their return to the Nation (and ideals of
the North) after the Civil War?
Using 2-3 complete sentences, explain why the South was against the

Answer:

The south wanted their slaves

Step-by-step explanation:

The southerners were mostly populated by plantation owners. Now the owners never did the work themselves, they bought slaves to do their work for them. When the 13 amendment came around they weren't happy because that would take away their lifestyle. All of the goods they produced and sold were produced by their slaves.
