During the past two centuries, there have been great advances in the field of science. We now in the 19th century have a clear understanding of how the planets, including our Earth, move around the sun. We also understand better how gravity works to keep us anchored on Earth. Clearly, there are definite laws of nature.
Consider the possibility that there may also be natural laws that govern how people behave. By discovering these natural laws, we can find a way to improve the conditions of mankind so that all may benefit.
In their seeking of such natural laws, the philosophes and other Enlightenment thinkers developed several ideas that changed the way people thought about government, the rights of the individual, and economics. Choose ONE Enlightenment thinkers and explain how they changed the view of government, individual rights, or economics during the 18th century.
