PLEASE don't answer with the Google answer..... that won't help me. And PLEASE don't answer with a completely random answer, that's not helpful. Thanks guys!

Answer:

1. the equation will say it. If there is an equation and it follows the format, y=mx+b, that is a linear function.

2. On a graph, if it goes in a straight line, it is a linear function

3. in a table, if x and y are proportional, then it is a linear function

EXAMPLE: x=1 and so y= 4

x=2 and so y= 8

The x is going up by one and y is going up by 4. That is proportional.

Hope this helps!
