Answer: x=29

2x+6+4x=180

combine like terms

2x+6+4x=180

6x+6=180

subtract 6 from both sides

6x+6-6=180-6

simplify

6x=174

divide both sides of the equasion by the same term

6x=174

6x=176

6 6

simplify again

x=29

Answer:

x = 30

Explanation:

First you would add the like terms, which are 2x and 4x, which gives you 6x. Now the equation would read 6x + 6 = 180

You need to get rid of the six, and since what you do to one side of the equation must be done to the other, you need to subtract 6 from both sides to cancel out the 6 on the left side of the equation. The equation is now 6x = 180. Now you need to divide both sides by 6, which gives you x = 30.
