(3)/(5) x -
(1)/(3) x = x - 1

multiply through by 15 ( the LCM of 5 and 3 ) to clear the fractions

9x - 5x = 15x - 15

4x = 15x - 15 ( subtract 15x from both sides )

- 11x = - 15 ( divide both sides by - 11 )

(-15)/(-11) =
(15)/(11)
