You found x, right?

Now, plug the value of x into either of the given equations to find y.

I found x to be 7 and y to be -1.

We can also express the answer as

(x, y) = (7, -1).

Answer:

(x, y) = (6 8/11, -2 1/11)

Explanation:

Add twice the second equation to the first:

(3x +2y) +2(4x -y) = (16) +2(29)

11x = 74 . . . . simplify

x = 74/11 = 6 8/11

Substitute this into the second equation to find y.

4(74/11) -y = 29

(26 10/11) - 29 = y = -2 1/11

The solution is (x, y) = (6 8/11, -2 1/11).

3x + 2y = 16 4x - y =29 i managed to get x but i cant seem to get y right-example-1
