Why did the southern colonies in America rely on slave labor and how did that affect the colonies? (history 8th grade)

Answer:

Southern colonies had a certain ecosystem that allowed to have many farms, as the people they were they needed help on these huge plantations. They would hire slaves, and this wouldn't really affect the colonies in a bad way. They got work done on the plantations. I'm not saying that they really needed the slaves, and I do believe that slavery is very wrong. But colonies made money and had resources for themselves.
