How do religious beliefs influence a society’s laws?

i think it is not fair that laws should be created because of ones beliefs because not everyone believes in the safe thing, like not every religion believes that abortion is bad, so why make it a law for a womans choice, or you might as well make everyone cover their hair because of ones religion. but you see, laws should be rules, not dumb choices we can make for ourselves and the government should not tell us what we can’t and can do with our body.
