1. Before the Industrial Revolution, textiles were made by hand in the “cottage industry”, where materials would be brought to homes and picked up when the textiles were finished

2. Rivers and streams were needed to provide water power to run the machines and to move the final products to market.

3. It dramatically reduced production time and the cost to produce material and was the start of many drastic changes in the textile industry.
