I think the idea of separate political parties can be troublesome and I believe the system should be reformed to allow for more diversity in representation.

Step-by-step explanation:

The problem in the United States is that the government is a defacto bi-partisan system that is dominated by two official parties, the Democrats and the Republicans. Therefore a lot of energy is spent on assuring the viability of each individual party internally. In the first instance, politicians are equally if not more worried about their standing within the party than the citizens they represent. This detracts from the work of governing for the people. The second way that the bipartisan system is problematic is that two parties are clearly hegemonic and other alternative voices are silenced. The third reason I believe this system needs reform and more diversity is that legislation seeks to compromise between the two party positions instead of really addressing and considering all the multidimensional aspects of the social problems that arise.
