The mean of a set of data = The sum of data ÷ the number of data

∵ A restaurant manager tracking the number of ketchup bottles in

six weeks

The number of data = 6

∵ The numbers of ketchup bottles used each week are 10, 14, 11, 10, 18, 17

→ Find their sum

∴ Their sum = 10 + 14 + 11 + 10 + 18 + 17

Their sum = 80

∵ The mean = The sum of data ÷ the number of data

∴ The mean = 80 ÷ 6

→ Simplify it by dividing both by 2

The mean = 40/3
